
Mark Edmiston
After starting his career at Time Inc, Mr. Edmiston held various positions in consumer marketing with Life Magazine in New York and Tokyo and then with The Saturday Review and CRM Inc., publisher of Psychology Today. In 1973 he joined Newsweek Inc. as the circulation director of its international editions. He was appointed president of Newsweek International in 1975, executive vice president of the company in 1979 and, in 1981, President/CEO of Newsweek Inc. As president, Mr. Edmiston led Newsweek in investing in the application of personal computing throughout the company. He extended the magazine into its first foreign language edition in Japan, reorganized the printing operation and streamlined corporate overhead functions. Despite lower ad lineage, the company’s profits increased 90% by 1985.
Mr. Edmiston is a graduate of Wesleyan University. He served as a director of the Magazine Publishers of America for more than 10 years and was chairman of the organization from 1985 through 1986.
